What's up with the gasmask?
The gasmask is The Benjamin Gate logo. It is about how Christians are not of this world. Like a gasmask, filter out the bad and breathe in the good.
2 Cor 10:2-5 "I beg you that, when present, I may not have to be brave with that confidence with which I intend to act boldly against some who consider us as acting according to the flesh. For, although we are in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh, for the weapons of our battle are not of flesh but are enormously powerful, capable of destroying fortresses. We destroy arguments and every pretension raising itself against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ." (New American Bible)
Adrienne explains the origin of the logo:
"Okay we've had this logo for about four or five years now and basically it started..... ok, we all like Batman and, like Spider- Man and just cartoons and stuff and you know how when they need Batman or whatever, like the Batman logo goes out and everyone's like, 'Oh my gosh! Batman's coming!' So we were like, 'Dude, it'd be so cool if we had a big logo!' So that's kind of like the idea behind the whole thing. The gasmask is basically just symbolic of a life source. It could be a spiritual life source which would be like the Holy Spirit to us. Or just that of like oxygen and breathing and life going into your body."
Why are they named "The Benjamin Gate?"
Two reasons:
1. Their friend, Ben Herbert, tragically died in a car crash.
2. The Benjamin Gate of Jerusalem, one of the 12 gates that guarded the temple of Jerusalem. Jeremiah 37:7 and Jeremiah 38:13.
